Swimming Pool Demolition and Pool Filling in Two Days or Less
Production Excavating can complete pool demolition and pool filling in two days or less! After twenty-five years in the excavation business, owner Tim Knebel has developed a excavation methodology that allows his team to access, demolish, and fill your pool rapidly - minimizing your inconvenience and reducing your cost. Using specialized equipment and a small team, Production Excavating can fill in a pool at a cost between $6,000 and $9,000 (certainly, your specific requirements may increase or decrease the price). Our onsite personnel will protect your existing landscaping as we access the pool, execute the demolition in a timely and professional manner, and complete a detailed cleanup and site restoration to finish the job.

Pool Demolition - Day One
The initial step of filling in and demolishing a swimming pool is to establish access to the pool. We need to protect the landscape and the hardscape - your sidewalks, driveways, and pavers - from damage with the equipment. Production Excavating always uses plywood sheets and dirt fill at curbs to ensure that no damage occurs during the pool removal.
Once the equipment is onsite, the removal and demolition can begin. First, we mark out three feet down from the coping. This line is then used to identify the level below grade for the new dirt fill. Then, we use the hoe ram to poke drainage in the bottom of the pool to begin the demolition. Depending on your project requirements, the hardscape rubble from the pool may be used for fill, or drain rock may be imported.
Once the floor of the pool is demolished for drainage, we can then build a ramp for provide access to the rest of the pool for demolition. Working inside the pool provides the ability to complete the work in yards with extremely limited space, and minimizes any disruption to landscaping.
When the ramp is in place for demolition , we can move the backhoe to the opposite side of the pool and complete breaking up the concrete and coping to act as drainage and fill. All of the concrete and coping is broken into chunks of 12 inches or less to promote drainage and prevent future ground settling.
Now, the material can be leveled to prepare for fill and compaction. Additionally, if requested as part of the backfill process, we can add filter fabric to separate the new dirt fill from the demolition rubble. This picture illustrates how our expertise with the equipment allows us to work in very limited spaces without interfering with existing structures or landscape.
Pool Filling - Day Two
When the backfill material has been leveled to 36 inches below grade, we can begin the new fill and compaction process. The backhoe is moved back up the ramp, and the new dirt fill is laid in up to the grade level. The material is then compacted to meet your building or land use plans - and the requirements of your city or county.
Once compaction is completed, the final surface is graded and leveled to meet the homeowner's requirement. Equipment is removed, any access fencing is replaced, and the site is policed. After two days, there's no evidence that the swimming pool was ever there!
